How do I order one of your gorgeous creations?
The first thing is to contact me, either by email or by telephone. Please let me know as much detail as possible, the themes, colours and style if you know already. Knowing the approximate number of guests you want to serve cake to can help with the overall sizing of your cake. Finally please let me know the date you want the cake for, that way I can let you know straight away if I have availability.
Don’t worry if you are not sure what cake you want to order, that’s where I come in and help you with some ideas.
How much notice do you need?
For wedding cakes we recommend booking in as soon as you can, preferably 4-6 months before the event especially in the wedding months from March to September.
To secure a date for a Wedding cake order I require £100 deposit (non-refundable and non- transferable) to hold your wedding date. I charge £20 for a wedding consultation which will take place at my cake studio at a time to suit both parties. This £20 fee covers cake samples and my time and is deducted from the cost of your wedding cake if you decide to place your order with me. The balance of the wedding order will be due in full 8 weeks prior to the event. Your order can be amended up to this point. If your wedding cake is cancelled before the 8 week cut off point I will retain your deposit but return any additional payments. However please note that with less than 8 weeks to go no refunds or changes will be made, this is final. By paying a deposit you are accepting my terms and conditions.
How much do your cakes cost?
There are a few factors that contribute to cake cost. I use only the finest of ingredients like real butter, free range eggs, Belgian chocolate and Madagascan vanilla extract. This ensures your cake tastes amazing. Each wedding cake is covered in a fine coat of Belgium chocolate ganache before applying fondant icing. This ensures the freshness of your cake and makes it taste even yummier. The required portion numbers will affect the size of the cakes needed and finally the overall decoration will affect the price. My cakes are never rushed and only a small number of commissions are taken on at any one time to ensure the utmost attention to each and every cake.
If you have a budget in mind then please let me know- this then means that we can design a cake within your budget, there is no point in designing a fantastic masterpiece only to find out its out of your budget. Don’t worry if you are not sure of your budget as several design ideas will be put forward with a range of prices for you to choose which option you like the best. Only after a deposit is paid do I supply drawings if required.
Can I come for a consultation?
By all means please do! Consultations take place at my cake studio set in the beautiful countryside! I generally set aside one hour for each couple to go over designs, flavours and budget. I bake a number of cakes for you to sample on the day to help you choose from our delicious range of flavours. A small range of cakes will be on display in my studio for your inspiration! For this I require £20 to be paid in advance to book you in. This assures me that you will turn up for the consultation! If you decide to book your wedding cake with me this fee is deducted from your cake costs. Once the fee is paid it is non-refundable but provided i have not baked the cakes it is transferable to another date that suits. After a consultation has taken place and the wedding cake is booked in any further face to face consultations incur an additional fee.
Can you deliver my cake?
I always offer and recommend delivery by myself. This ensures that your cake arrives in the condition it leaves my studio in a safe and sound manner! A fee will be applied for all deliveries; this will vary for each venue and is dependent on the distance from my studio. We always advise at time of booking the cost of delivery. You can, by all means collect any cake. We recommend the cake be transported flat and on non-slip matting in the boot of your car. No responsibility will be taken by Suzanne Esper Cakes once the cake has left my studio. The sole responsibility is that of the customer.
How do I store my cake?
After your cake has been delivered I recommend it to be stored in a cool environment. I never recommend placing your cake in a fridge as this will cause condensation to collect on the cake surface which can damage decorations and possibly ruin the cake! For my chocolate wrap cakes, these should never be stored above 23 degrees instead anything from 18 degrees to 21 degrees will be perfect.
After the cake has been cut, the remainder can be stored in the fridge and should be eaten within 2-3 days for best tasting cakes.
Can I hire your beautiful cake stands?
Yes! Absolutely! I offer free rental of each cake stand. A security deposit is required for each hire and will depend on which cake stand you hire as some are much more expensive to buy than others. This fee is refunded upon safe and undamaged return within the rental time period. Each stand should be returned within 5 days of hire. For wedding stand hire we understand that you might be a little busy to return the stand, either one of your trusted guests can return it to us or we can pick it up for a small fee. For each week that the stand is late £10 will be deducted from the deposit until that stand is returned. We reserve the right to keep the deposit if the stand is returned damaged/scratched/broken or returned late. By paying a deposit you are accepting my terms and conditions.
